We are excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced Paediatric Audiologist / Clinical Scientist to join the Cochlear Implant Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH)
This fixed term maternity leave cover Band 8a role is an excellent opportunity to advance your career in complex and specialist paediatric audiology and cochlear implant management. You will play a key role in the assessment and management of children under the cochlear implant pathway, including detailed audiological evaluations and post-surgical programming of cochlear implant systems.

Main duties of the job
- To work independently as part of a multi-disciplinary team, within professional boundaries
- To undertake clinical assessments in hearing function in children of all ages, including those with complex needs, using a wide range of behavioural and electrophysiological test procedures in line with departmental practice and protocols, operating a comprehensive range of electromedical equipment and analysing and interpreting complex clinical data
- To be able to perform diagnostic audiological assessments to assist in the evaluation of hearing disorders
- Provide highly visible leadership to all staff within the department, ensuring consistency in communicating the vision, strategic direction and objectives of the Service.
- To ensure adequate cover arrangements are in place within the department for all clinical duties on a weekly basis
- To manage monthly timetable / rota of clinical staff vs clinical activity booked.
- To participate in the maintenance and updating of audiological databases
- Responsibility for pre-defined areas for IQIPS accreditation – to be mutually agreed with the Lead Audiologist and evaluated on an ongoing basis.
- Work with the Lead Audiologist to assess and minimise risk, ensure health and safety compliance, and adherence to the Trust policies and procedures within the department.
- To provide teaching on audiological issues to medical and non-medical staff, and others, as agreed with the Lead Audiologist.
