Job overview

We are seeking an outstanding Deputy General Manager to provide senior operational leadership across these directorates.

As a key member of the WLCH ( West London Children’s Healthcare) senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how services are delivered—ensuring safe, effective and compassionate care, alongside an excellent experience for children, young people and their families. You will attend and actively contribute to the monthly WLCH Team Brief, lead directorate boards, and engage directly with teams through local meetings to drive performance, quality improvement and a strong one-team culture.

Working in close partnership with an expert multidisciplinary triumvirate, you will hold collective responsibility for all aspects of operational management and service delivery. This will include oversight of performance, workforce, finance, governance and transformation—translating strategic ambition into operational reality.

This is a senior, high-impact role for a leader who thrives in complexity, values collaboration and is motivated by making a tangible difference to patient care. As WLCH continues to evolve and expand, this post offers a unique opportunity for development, and to help shape the future of children’s services across West London.

Our services are organised into three Clinical Directorates:

  • Be intensely patient focused, ensuring that patient quality and care is at the forefront of their decision making.
  • Be accountable for the operational performance of services within the two acute campuses and two community services that sit within their remit. This will include delegated responsibility for the delivery of high quality patient care, clinical governance, patient safety, clinical quality and delivery of financial targets.
  • Be responsible for setting the strategy and direction of their directorate. •    Play a key role in supporting the delivery of our aspirations for integrated children and young people’s services.
  • Work closely with the General Manager and wider senior leadership team to deliver ambitious plans to transform services for children and young people both within WLCH and across North West London with a focus on improving equity of access and outcomes.
  • Be a visible leader with a strong ability deliver on a complex portfolio of services across multiple sites.
