Role Overview:
We are seeking experienced Dental Nurses to support insourcing surgical lists across Essex, helping to deliver NHS waiting list initiatives. The Dental Nurse will provide clinical and administrative support to dentists and oral/maxillofacial surgeons during surgical and dental procedures, ensuring patients receive safe, effective and high-quality care.
The role will involve supporting patient care pathways, providing chairside assistance, maintaining high standards of infection prevention and control, and assisting with surgical procedures including tooth extractions.
This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside an experienced clinical team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide chairside and clerical support to dentists, oral surgeons and clinical teams.
- Assist with dental extractions, oral surgery and clinical procedures.
- Prepare patients, clinical rooms, equipment and instruments for treatment.
- Provide patient reassurance and pre- and post-operative support.
- Maintain high standards of infection control, clinical safety and patient confidentiality.
About us
Essential Requirements:
- GDC registered Dental Nurse with a relevant dental nursing qualification.
- Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience.
- Recent NHS Dental Nursing experience, including at least 12 months in a substantive NHS role.
- Recent hands-on experience in oral surgery and/or tooth extractions.
- Experience working within a dental, oral surgery or maxillofacial setting.
- Good knowledge of infection prevention and control and GDC standards.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to patient safety, high-quality care and continuing professional development.
