Job summary

We are looking for dental nurses to join our team on a full-time or part-time basis. This key role will provide dental nurse support, assisting in the full range of dental care provided and working alongside dentists, dental therapists/hygienists and receptionists in the care of service users.

Main duties of the job

  • Welcoming and receiving service users into the practice.
  • Reassuring service users and explaining dental procedures.
  • Monitoring, supporting and reassuring service users through relevant behavioural techniques.
  • Identifying any complications and taking the necessary actions consistent with agreed local and national protocols.
  • Recording treatment, for example, baseline charting, clinical treatments and periodontal charting from the dental operators instructions.
  • Assisting the operator in organising the day's activities.
  • Monitoring and updating day lists and the appointment diary as necessary.
  • Preparing the surgery for use at the beginning of the session and clearing up at the end of the session.
  • Arranging for timely supply of materials and laboratory work.
  • Preparing filling and impression materials, instruments equipment, dressings and syringes as requested by the dental operator.
  • Maintaining hand pieces, aspirators and other equipment.
