We are a friendly team working towards improving dementia and delirium services within the hospital, in line with the national and local guidelines in dementia and delirium care. We are committed to promoting, delivering and implementing high standards of person-centred care for people living with dementia and experiencing delirium.
We are looking for a colleague who has had significant prior experience of working with people living with dementia and / or experiencing delirium and their carers. As part of your role you may be expected to assist patients with activities of daily living promoting independence and well-being and supporting patients presenting with distress reactions. You must be confident in de-escalation and have experience in behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD).
Base Location: Poole hospital and Royal Bournemouth hospital

Essential
- An excellent understanding of dementia and delirium
- Basic knowledge around types of interventions, activities and how to manage BPSD
- Knowledge on managing and supporting delirium

- Advanced knowledge in planning interventions
- To have basic understanding of the mental capacity act and DOLS
- General medical knowledge
Experience
Essential
- Relevant experience of working in a mental health/general acute hospital setting working with D&D
- Demonstrable experience of caring for patients
- Experience of working in health care in the UK
- Experience of planning activities

- Experience at Band 3 level
- Experience in recognising delirium
- Basic understanding for the mental capacity act/mental health act and DOLS
