
Job summary
This is a training role within the Trust's secondary care services established as part of the national Improving Access to Psychological Therapies SMI Programme (SMH). The post-holder will work within the psychological therapy service, providing DBT and DBT-informed interventions under supervision whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. This intensive training post will equip the postholder to provide a dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) service to patients with emotional instability, including those diagnosed with Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder. The postholder will work in the service for at least 3 days of the week using their newly developed skills whilst attending training or completing other identified professional development on the other days.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will participate in the delivery of DBT by attending consult, facilitating skills groups, providing individual therapy and coaching. They will also provide consultation and training to MDT colleagues on the management of people with emotional instability.
The postholder will place an emphasis on co-production and demonstrate an attitude which respects and values individuals and their carers. They will show the core values of the Trust: patients and people first; partnership; and respect.
Work will also involve working with other people involved in individuals' care (e.g. family or named carers). This will include provision of a Family Connections group. A recovery focused approach is essential.
