The successful candidate will work closely with the EPR Data Quality Lead, and the wider Data Quality team when required. You will be required to work from Excel spreadsheets daily, updating patient data as appropriate.

Main duties of the job
To support the Data Quality Team in ensuring data held across the Trust contains accurate and reliable information. To contribute to the Data Quality Team in providing an efficient and high-quality service for ensuring accurate source data which constitutes a major part of the Information Governance agenda. To provide support to the EPR Data Quality Lead, in raising awareness across the Trust for the need for timely and accurate quality data.
As a member of the Trust’s Data Quality Department, the post holder will work as part of a team which includes Clinical Coding Department and Information Department.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Key functional responsibilities
As a member of the Data Quality Team, support the Trust in meeting the data requirements of clinicians, hospital managers, commissioners and Trust board
To identify and report anomalies in data and ensure that any errors are corrected at source
To work as part of the EPR programme to ensure that patient related data held within the Trust is accurate and complete to enable reliable and robust reporting to support clinical and business processes, statutory information and income generation
Provide training, mentoring and coaching as required to groups
Provide training, mentoring and coaching on a one-to-one basis if required
Identify data quality issues and ensure that departments are made aware of them in a timely manner in line with national deadlines
To audit the accuracy and completeness of data held on Lorenzo and other trust systems ensuring that they are properly completed, and data quality standards are maintained in line within Information Governance requirements
To support the Clinical Coding and Information Departments to ensure that targets and quality standards are maintained within the agreed deadlines
To provide Data Quality training and awareness sessions as required based on service needs
To undertake Referral to Treatment (RTT) Validation, ensuring that patients on an RTT pathway have the correct RTT outcome. Chasing the outcome when necessary
To close referrals when required for any patient showing on an RTT pathway that has been identified as a stopped pathway, ensuring that the correct pathway has been identified
Act independently guided by the principles and operational framework of the Trust’s Access Policy and national and local 18 Weeks Guidance
To provide and receive complex information and communicate statistical matters/system changes to non-analytical professionals
Be responsible for adapting and improving local information systems and procedures around data collection, input, audit and analysis so they continue to meet the needs of the Trust
Extract data using online reports and analyse with Excel
To ensure Data Validation is complete within timescales to meet Trust and SUS deadlines
To resolve any queries related to data quality at source
Be aware of and communicate any data changes and any other software enhancements that will affect the quality of data
Participate in team, professional and personal development activities and promote a commitment to continuous development and improvement
Work with the IT trainers to provide support for new and existing members of staff
Act independently to manage own workload, ensuring that issues are dealt with in a timely manner, identifying any problems and liaising with Trust managers as appropriate, ensuring that final reports and responses are provided in a timely manner
Undertake any other duties commensurate with this grade and nature of the post as allocated by the Manager, including project work and absence cover
Communication and Working Relationships
To participate and support all operational managers, users and developers in improving data quality encouraging decision making and action planning to resolve complex data and system issues and evaluating the effectiveness of such actions
