Job overview

The CF Specialist Nurse will work with the Cystic Fibrosis team and all other key health professionals involved in the care of children and young people with Cystic Fibrosis (CF).

Main duties of the job

Working closely with the Cystic Fibrosis nursing team, the post holder will assist in the implementation of specialist nursing skills, knowledge and expertise in the care and management of children and adolescents with Cystic Fibrosis.

The post holder will be required to;

  • Support the senior CF nurse specialists in initiating care programmes, developing services and using effective approaches to meet the needs of this group of patients and families.
  • Work in a variety of settings within the community. Establishing links across the primary/secondary/tertiary care interface will be an important part of the role.
  • Support children and young people with CF and their families in hospital within wards, ED and outpatient settings and in educational setting.
  • The post holder will participate in audit and research within the CF nursing team.
