Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s Procurement Department as a Customer Service Assistant on a 12‑month fixed-term contract. This role is based across University Hospital Ayr (UHA) and University Hospital Crosshouse (UHC).

The Supplies & Distribution Team play a vital role in supporting frontline clinical services by ensuring wards, theatres and clinics receive the essential products they need—when and where they need them. As a Customer Service Assistant, you will be at the heart of this service, helping to deliver efficient, responsive and high-quality support across the organisation.

Hours:

36.00 hours per week.

UK Driving Licence:

A UK driving licence is essential for this role.

What you will do:

This post is part of a team of Customer Service Assistants who are responsible for ensuring wards/clinics/theatres have sufficient supplies of stock products. Each Customer Service Assistant has allocated wards/clinics/theatre assigned to them where they have responsibility of carrying out top ups of stock products, check orders are complete when delivered from National Distribution Service (NDS), ensure stock levels of products are adequate, monitor shared email box to process orders for outlying departments, deal with returns and customer queries.

We are looking for a proactive and organised individual who enjoys working in a busy environment and takes pride in delivering excellent service.

You should have:

  • Experience in customer service or a similar role
  • Experience in procurement, supplies, stores or stock control (desirable)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • IT skills, including Microsoft Office and email systems
  • Experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment (desirable)

Knowledge, training and/or experience required for this post:

Procurement / Supplies experience. Dealing with a wide range of customers within the organisation. Customer Care experience, experience of working in a Hospital environment

Knowledge of Supplies/Stores/Stock control procedures. I T literate ( Microsoft packages,ie; word, excel, etc, e-mail )
