Job summary
The post holder will assist and support the Lead Nurse and Microbiologist in the delivery of microbiology services at LHCH.
The post holder will assist the Intensive Care consultants in the collation of patient specific data in supporting antimicrobial ward rounds and to provide input as required.to support the management of patients with infection in the Critical Care unit. The post holder will assist senior antimicrobial pharmacist(s) in the delivery of antimicrobial stewardship and will support the Lead for sepsis in sepsis management across LHCH.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will be responsible for the collection and summary of a patient's full antibiotic treatment history, cultures results and relevant investigations from LHCH and transferring hospitals if appropriate to assist the microbiologist in treatment decision making
- Interact with the multidisciplinary teams in a professional manner, communicating with other Health care professionals and members of the pharmacy team regarding the provision of antimicrobial's. This will include attending the antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention meetings
- To work with the sepsis leads and steering group.
- Support senior colleagues with the necessary training to facilitate the meeting of the SEPSIS local and national targets and other local related targets or key performance indicators (KPI'S Involved in sepsis training for induction of staff and support Junior Doctor induction Be responsible for the weekly review of compliance with the sepsis bundle and provision of feedback to matron Ensure a Post Infection Review is undertaken of any bacteraemia's within Critical Care reporting to Infection Prevention Team and Critical Care Matron Work in collaboration with the Critical Care Infection Specialist Lead Nurse to perform central line surveillance, undertake reviews of central line infections and participate in quality improvement projects related to intravenous access.
