Main duties of the job

We have an amazing opportunity for a Mental Health Crisis Recovery Worker to join our growing team at Ashford Safe Haven. Our Safe Haven provides vital support to people experiencing mental health distress or crisis, offering a safe, welcoming and recovery-focused environment when individuals need someone to listen, understand and help them through a difficult time. We are looking for an experienced and compassionate person to provide high-quality, recovery-focused support to people with a range of mental health needs. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will provide immediate emotional support and stabilisation, assess and manage risk, co-produce safety plans and support individuals with complex needs. You will also work closely with colleagues and external partners, including the Police, Ambulance Service and GP surgeries, to promote the safety and wellbeing of the people who access our service.

Job responsibilities

CRISIS RECOVERY WORKER Hours of work: 18 hours per week (including weekends and Bank Holidays) Salary: £26,607 - £29,378 per annum (FTE) (pro rata £12,771 - £14,101 per annum) Location: Ashford Safe Haven Shifts: 18:00 - 00:00, 3 shifts per week Could you be there for someone in crisis? The role will include:

Providing crisis intervention and emotional support face-to-face, by telephone and via video.

Completing risk assessments and making safe, effective decisions when supporting people in crisis.

Co-producing robust safety plans with the people who access our service.

Accurately recording contacts, visits and calls on electronic systems.

Working collaboratively with partners, stakeholders and external agencies to ensure individual safety and effective service delivery.

Supporting people to understand and manage factors affecting their mental and physical wellbeing.

Participating in handovers, training and mentoring new staff to support consistency across the service.

Promoting the service through community engagement, events and networks to encourage people to seek support when they need it.

Exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage compassionately with people experiencing high levels of distress.

The ability to assess risk and make safe, effective decisions under pressure.

Excellent emotional intelligence, self-awareness and sensitivity when supporting people in crisis.

Experience of maintaining accurate records and using electronic systems to record information.

The ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary and multi-agency team.

A recovery-focused approach and a commitment to promoting independence, choice and wellbeing.

The ability to remain calm, professional and compassionate when working in challenging situations.
