An exciting opportunity has become available for a suitably qualified Contraception and sexual health nurse to join our friendly team.
Our aim is to promote the health and particularly the sexual health of Adults, young people and those most vulnerable to sexual health concerns through providing information, education and outreach,counselling, confidential clinical and medical services, professional advice and training.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning,treatment implementation and evaluation of patient care demonstrating evidence based/best practice.
To adhere to Walsall Healthcare NHS policies, procedures, protocols and patient group directives in order to promote the quality of the patient experience ensuring the highest standard.
Mentoring continuous professional development of individual team members and assisting in the continued development of the Walsall Integrated Sexual Health Service.
To maintain effective channels of communication with the wider multi-professional team.
The post holder will be responsible for providing services for contraception and sexual health at Walsall Integrated Sexual Health.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To be responsible for the assessment of clients’ needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of care, ensuring that patients receive the highest quality of care.
Demonstrate judgement skills when interpreting and performing acute or complex patient assessments and care planning, choosing from a range of options.
Work independently within nurse led clinics delivering specialist care to clients for all Contraception & Sexual Health needs.
Supply contraceptive methods and treatments for sexual transmitted infections from the Patient Group Directives, considering cost quality and the reliability of supplied items. This will include implant insertions and the removal of contraceptive devices.
Maintain accurate and up to date nursing electronic and manual records, patient confidentiality, and statistical records as required by the service.
Work with other professionals to promote multidisciplinary working, appropriate skills transference, and the creation and use of care pathways.
Recognise the need to refer clients to the safeguarding team in the case of suspected child abuse and or sexual exploitation OR OTHER Safeguarding concerns.
Assist in the implantation of strategies for quality assurance, clinical governance and quality audit.
Contribute to service developments and assist in the co-ordination of their implementation.
Undertake additional training as required to meet the needs of the patient and register any additional skills acquired because of enhanced practice e.g. cervical cytology, pregnancy counselling and ultrasound scanning.
