We are seeking an enthusiastic Continuity of Carer Midwife to join our supportive team.You will provide personalised care to women, birthing people, and families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period.

This advert is specifically for Band 6 Midwives who are post preceptorship and have clinical experience.

Please note this is a fixed term 12 month opportunity.

Band 6 Midwives: Youll work flexibly and autonomously across antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal settings (inpatient/community) with a defined caseload, ensuring seamless continuity for those in your care. You'll role model best practice, support junior staff and promote high standards across our service.

You will join a small integrated approachable team that values personalised care, teamwork and growth. Our commitment was reflected in our recent CQC inspection, where maternity services were ratedGood.

Main duties of the job

An assessment centre will be held prior to traditional interview. If required there may be a third phase of recruitment to find the most suitable candidate.

As a dedicated midwife, your main duties will revolve around providing safe, clinically effective and individualised care to women and birthing people throughout their pregnancy journey.

This role offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships, support positive birth experiences, and make a genuine impact on the health and wellbeing of our community. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver safe, high-quality, and compassionate care.

We are committed to the national maternity agenda and also have an impressive home birth record.

Youll work flexibly across antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal settings (inpatient/community) with a defined caseload, ensuring seamless continuity for those in your care. Excellent communication, clinical confidence, and a passion for promoting choice are essential.

When working in one of our established teams, you will have time to complete visits for your caseload, and other times where you will be available to care for women in labour (hospital, birth centre and home).You and your team write your own rota, decide on annual leave and support each other in weekly team meetings. This allows you to gain transferrable skills such as time management, prioritisation and team working.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 1) BSc (Hons) Midwifery or equivalent qualification
  • 2) UK NMC registration as a Midwife
  • 3) Completion of practice supervisor or assessor training.

Desirable

  • 1) NIPE Training
  • 2) Advanced training or certification in specialist areas

Skills/Knowledge

Essential

  • 1) Please demonstrate how, as a midwife, you ensure your practice is guided by current evidence-based practice and the importance of this.
  • 2) Competent in Venepuncture & Cannulation
  • 3) Competenct in IV Therapy
  • 4) Competent in Perineal Suturing

Desirable

  • 1) Familiarity with maternity-specific IT systems (e.g., BadgerNet).
