An exciting opportunity has arisen within NHS Grampian for two full time, permanent Consultant Urological Surgeons to join our existing team at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Post 1: Consultant Urologist (core)

Post 2: Consultant Urologist (with an interest in reconstruction)

The Urology Department within NHS Grampian is a progressive and welcoming team based in a major University teaching hospital and with strong links to the academic department within Aberdeen University. The department provides regional major pelvic cancer, robotic and stone services to the North of Scotland as well as core Urology to the population of NHS Grampian. The team have consistently lead the way on the development of treatment options for patients across the North of Scotland and in recent years have introduced robotic surgery, a fixed-site lithotripsy service and HOLEP.

Applicants should have wide knowledge of and experience in all major branches of the specialty including core Urology in order to support the work of the existing team.

The department are looking for candidates to be forward thinking and collaborative in their approach to the role and the development of the service across both Grampian and the North of Scotland.

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training (FRCS Urology or equivalent) leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.

CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) or Portfolio Pathway route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive Consultant post once CESR or Portfolio Pathway specialist registration is awarded. Those with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC should have a confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.

Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made. Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR or Portfolio Pathway Specialist Registration can be made to the GMC.
