This role is to fill a vacancy due to departure of a consultant radiologist. We are looking to maintain our team of consultant radiologists by appointing proactive, compassionate and committed colleagues to share in the challenge of providing patient centred specialist care. This role is to provide consultant services to maintain the capacity of the department during a period of expansion at QVH with an interest in General radiology and MSK preferable. The post holder will be expected to be part of the regional MDT Teams. They will also be expected to provide training and supervision for Specialist Registrars and Allied Health professionals. There will also be an expectation to partake in general cross-sectional and some plain film reporting to maintain the high levels of service provided by the radiology department at QVH.

It is essential that the applicant can demonstrate experience/training in the full range of General radiology with MSK experience strongly preferred.

Main duties of the job

There is a dedicated department REALM that is well-established at QVH which the postholder is expected to regularly attend and contribute in line with RCR expectations.

The department houses computer equipment, which is utilised for communication, teaching and research purposes.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• Ø To report a wide range of cross-sectional scans for general CT/ MRI and some plain film as required to RCR standard. Ø Participation in various regional MDTs. Ø Maintain a high standard of clinical expertise and care for the patient Ø Perform ultrasound scans and independently report own workload of patients, providing written reports to the referring clinician to RCR standard Ø Have an interest / training in a sub-specialty; ideally MSK Ø There is no on-call commitment Ø Support registrars, sonographers and reporting radiographers with mentorship and training. Ø Work with admin and junior staff for vetting queries, reporting escalations Ø Liaise with trust clinicians and GPs for clinical queries, critical escalation of findings Ø Undertake peer review and participate in research studies as required
