We are excited to be able to advertise a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to provide clinical leadership to the Inpatient Recovery Units based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. This is a post vacated by a retiring Consultant Psychiatrist.
Honeybourne Recovery Unit (10 beds) and Laurel House Recovery Unit (13 beds) are stand-alone facilities located on the St Paul's campus in Cheltenham. The majority of patients will have a psychotic illness as the primary diagnoses and range of stays between 6 to 18 months.
The job will entail acting as the responsible clinician to the patients.
This role is offered on a permanent basis. The hours are 10 sessions per week (1 in 20 on-call).
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the job include the clinical care of patients. Working with the MDT to devise comprehensive clinical management plan for the rehabilitation of the patients within the service.
The role also includes managerial aspects such as supervision of specialty doctor and any trainees.

WORK EXPERIENCE

- Higher specialist training or extensive UK experience in acute psychiatry.

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

- Basic Medical Qualification GMC registered. On GMC Specialist Register, or eligible for such inclusion. Specialist Registrars within 6 months of their CCT date at the time of interview. Approved Clinician/S12 approval or eligibility for approval.
Desirable
- MRCPsych. Training or experience in inpatients, crisis, AOT and/or substance misuse psychiatry.
