Due to promotion of the previous postholder, this role to lead psychology in healthcare services for adults and to provide clinical services within the cardiothoracic board at Newcastle Hospitals is now being advertised.  This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to both operational and strategic leadership of a busy, growing, friendly and supportive team.  You will join a committed group of leads in our paediatric, neuropsychology, community and specialist services and and will work closely with the CPPO to maintain and develop services.

Main duties of the job

Your duties will include:

  • To ensure delivery of a high quality, comprehensive specialist psychological service
  • To have responsibility, in consultation with the CPPO, for the professional leadership, planning, systematic provision and review of the adult services across Psychology in Healthcare at NuTH.
  • To provide professional leadership and management, ensuring systematic governance of the service ensuring that systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical and professional supervision of the psychological professionals.
  • Provides a highly specialised and experienced psychological service for patients with the most complex/challenging presentations including highly specialist psychological assessments and interventions.
  • To support research, evaluation, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice of the service
  • As a senior member of staff, you will be required to represent the Head of Clinical Service at planning, management, and other fora.
  • Supervision of qualified psychological professionals , assistant psychologists and other clinical staff as required.
  • Research and clinical supervision of doctoral trainees.
  • To provide training where required.
