Job overview
This is a new post as part of our service development to improve specialist palliative care in the emergency department and at the hospital ‘front door’. The focus will be on acute palliative care and our aim is to optimise symptoms early on and avoid admission where appropriate. The post holder will work alongside the four current palliative medicine consultants in the well-established palliative care service.
The post holder will be based at Florence Nightingale Hospice and is expected to work across BHT sites as per their job plan. Flexibility will be required depending on service development and demand. It is proposed that the 5 consultants will ultimately rotate through, and lead on, different service areas over fixed periods of time. However, the focus for this post will be on acute care at the frontdoor.
