Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in Oncology based at Ayrshire Maternity Unit, University Hospital Crosshouse. This post is offered on a permanent.
Hours:
40 hours per week.
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

A UK driving licence is essential for this role.
What you will do:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in Oncology to join the team at Ayrshire Maternity Unit, Kilmarnock, part of NHS Ayrshire & Arran.
This is a full‑time substantive post, offering the chance to work within a supportive, multidisciplinary team delivering high‑quality obstetric and gynaecological care to women across Ayrshire.
Hours and Shift Pattern:
- Full‑time post
- Participation in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology out‑of‑hours rota
Role Overview
The successful applicant will:
- Contribute to the delivery of comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological services
- Provide specialist input in gynaecological oncology
- Participate fully in clinical governance, teaching, audit, and service development
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues across maternity, gynaecology, oncology, and wider women’s health services
