Due to upcoming retirements we are recruiting for a permanent Respiratory Consultant with general medicine accreditation. The appointment is to the University Hospitals Dorset Respiratory Team with an expectation that the successful candidate will work at both Poole and Bournemouth sites.

Main duties of the job

Ideally the post is a full-time post with 10 PA's and a contribution to the existing on-call rota. We would also consider part-time working. It will contain General Respiratory and General Medical inpatient and outpatient care with development of any special interests.

The successful applicant will join us at an exciting time of great change and opportunity. The merged Respiratory Team across the both sites comprises of 15 Respiratory Consultants who work closely with a team of Respiratory Physiologists, Lung Care Specialist Nurses, TB Specialists and the Dorset Adult Integrated Respiratory Service (DAIRS) Team. The UHD model for the future is that all inpatient care will be delivered at the Bournemouth site and planned/elective care will be delivered across both sites from late 2026. Joining us at this time gives the applicant the unique opportunity to be involved in shaping the future service of UHD Respiratory Medicine including the building of new inpatient wards, the building and development of a dedicated Respiratory High Care Unit and a specialist Respiratory on-call.

We do reserve the right to close this advertisement early if we receive a high volume of suitable applications.
