Both posts will support the Director of Public Health in fulfilling statutory duties and corporate responsibilities, providing senior public health leadership across a broad and dynamic portfolio. Successful candidates will lead large-scale service renewal and transformation programmes and contribute to the public health on-call rota.

Applicants must be included on the GMC Specialist Register with a licence to practise, GDC Specialist List, or UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview).

Both posts attract a job plan of 8 Programmed Activities (PAs) for Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 2 PAs for Supporting Professional Activities (SPA).

Consultant in Public Health (Medicine) with Deputy Director of Public Health responsibilities

This is a rare opportunity to combine strategic public health leadership with senior corporate management responsibilities.

You will provide leadership and line management for Heads of Service and contribute to the achievement of organisational, financial and outcome objectives. You will lead some of the most significant transformation programmes within NHSGGC, including implementation of the Population Health and Health and Social Care Services Renewal Frameworks, while also providing strategic oversight of our public health intelligence function.

We are looking for an experienced and visionary leader with a strong track record of system transformation, health intelligence and organisational leadership. Most importantly, you will have the ambition, influence and drive to lead change in a complex and evolving healthcare environment.

Consultant in Public Health (Medicine)

This role offers an exceptional opportunity to influence population health through collaboration, partnership and strategic leadership. You will work across organisational boundaries to build relationships, shape policy and influence decision-making at the highest levels. While the role does not include line management responsibilities, you will provide expert leadership to multidisciplinary teams and play a key part in delivering public health priorities across NHSGGC and beyond.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong partnership-working skills, the ability to build effective alliances and a passion for improving outcomes for communities.

The specific portfolio and areas of responsibility will be agreed through the job planning process, and applicants are encouraged to highlight areas of particular expertise, interest or experience within their application.
