Applications are invited for a new Consultant post in General Surgery.
The successful candidate will be a full-time appointment in General & Colorectal Surgery. In addition to the management of general surgical cases, the department of colorectal surgery deals with approximately 150-170 new cases of colorectal cancer per year, in addition to all other aspects of benign colorectal disease.

The successful candidate would be expected to complement our existing team of consultants and integrate within our team to provide a complete General Surgery service. The successful candidate will be expected to have a sub-specialty interest in Colorectal Surgery of which expertise in management of advanced colorectal cancer and clinical/academic research are highly desirable.
In addition to the management of general surgical cases and participation in a Consultant Surgeon of the Week (CSOW) rota, the department deals with the full range of colorectal surgery including benign proctology, pelvic floor and inflammatory bowel disorders.
All consultants are expected to participate in the on-call rota (1 in 11 following appointment).

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs will be deducted from their salary over the first three months of employment.
You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. A small annual fee of £16 per year applies.
New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.
