Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Kidney & Pancreas Transplant Surgery with interest in Vascular Access Surgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a substantive post (12 PAs), available as soon as possible.
Main duties of the job
The Cambridge Transplant Unit provides kidney, pancreas, liver, intestinal and multivisceral transplant to the adult population of the East of England and beyond. More than 300 transplants take place each year.
This post will share responsibility for deceased donor kidney and pancreas transplantation with Consultant colleagues and a commitment to elective vascular access surgery for the dialysis access for Addenbrooke’s and its satellite dialysis units in the region.
There will be a 1:8 on-call commitment for deceased donor kidney and pancreas transplantation. There is no emergency general surgery on-call.
There are close working relationships with Nephrology, Hepatology and Gastroenterology. We also have an active clinical and basic science research programme.
The successful applicant with be based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, but will have a commitment to participate in Outreach Transplant Assessment clinics that the unit runs across East Anglia, and Vascular Access Day Case lists off site.
You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.
