Job summary

We are seeking a part-time (eight PAs per week) forward-thinking Consultant in Genitourinary Medicine to join our Newcastle Sexual Health Service.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an established level three service, providing integrated Sexual Health Services across Newcastle. Working within a skilled multidisciplinary team, you will paly a key role in delivering high-quality patient-centred care developing innovative pathways and helping shape the future direction of Sexual Health Services within the City. The Service is currently undergoing transformation and workforce development including recruitment of consultant medical leadership roles

We are looking for a individual who is passionate about delivering excellent clinical care, improving access to services, reducing inequalities and supporting the development of an Integrated Sexual Health model that meets the needs of our diverse population.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide Clinical Leadership in GUM;
  • Provide consultant-led GUM outpatient clinics;
  • Diagnose and manage sexually transmitted infections;
  • Deliver complex HIV testing;
  • Provide expert advice regarding syphilis, gonorrhoea, chlamydia, genital dermatoses and complex sexual health presentations;
  • Lead partner notification programmes;
  • Support management of antimicrobial resistance in STI practice;
  • Participate in safeguarding processes.

Contribute to regional specialist MDT discussions.
