For the Consultant Gastroenterologist role a £5,000 recruitment premium is payable to successful candidates upon arrival. We are looking to appoint a permanent consultant. An applicant with experience in Liver Disease would be particularly desirable to help further develop services. However, applicants with other interests would also add value to the team. Applicants will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven teaching ability. Experience in developing services and in working with teams will be an advantage. A higher degree is preferred but not a prerequisite.”

Qualifications

Essential

  • MBChB or equivalent
  • MRCP, FRCP or equivalent
  • CCST / CCT in GIM CCST / CCT in gastroenterology
  • GMC registration

Desirable

  • Higher degree (PhD; MD) or MPhil
  • Resuscitation Council Advanced Life Support Qualification (training will be available)

Teaching Skills

Essential

  • Small group teaching
  • One-to-one supervision

Communication Skills

Essential

  • Express complex ideas easily and simply in reports, paper and letters.
  • Communicate comprehensibly with the health and educational community; users and carers

Organisation & Planning

Essential

  • Highly self-motivated, flexible, and able to organise time and workload in demanding NHS and academic environments
  • Imaginative, creative and inquisitive
  • Willingness to work across gastroenterology outpatients, gastroenterology inpatients and endoscopy

Quality Improvement & Research

Desirable

  • An acknowledged expert for research in a particular aspect of healthcare education / clinical practice
  • Post-MD / PhD research experience
  • Experience within a research team
  • A significant contribution to research publication
