The St John’s Institute of Dermatology is seeking a new part-time (9.5 PAs) Consultant in Dermatology to join dynamic enthusiastic teams embedded within the forward-thinking Institute. The Institute is involved in many exciting initiatives and is looking for an individual with the appropriate skills to complement our team and to help keep our service at the forefront of clinical and academic excellence. The Institute offers a wide range of services to diverse patient populations with skin conditions. The post-holder will undertake general outpatient sessions along with supporting well-established multi-disciplinary specialist clinics. The post-holder will support wider activities across the Institute, including service development, research and education

Main duties of the job
The postholder will, together with consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of dermatology services to the Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust to include:
- General adult services
- General paediatric dermatology services
- Adult secondary care skin cancer services
- Community dermatology services
- Take part in Dermatology Consultant on call rota
- Advise on the diagnosis and treatment of patients of the Trust in such hospitals, health centres or clinics or other premises as required.
- Continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge, allowing for all proper delegation to, and training of, your staff.

Provide High Quality Care to Patients
- The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC specialist registration and hold a licence to practice
Research, Teaching and Training
- To collaborate with academic and clinical colleagues to enhance the
- To act as educational supervisor and appraiser as delegated by the Clinical Director to ensure external accreditation of training post.
Performance Management
- Clinical efficiency e.g. length of stay (LOS) reductions, reducing cancelled operations and ‘Did Not Attend’ (DNA) rates.
- Quality of outcomes e.g. infection control targets, reducing re-admission rates.
Medical Staff Management
- To be responsible for the annual appraisal of all doctors in training, Trust doctors, Clinical Fellows and non-consultant grades as delegated by the Clinical Director/General Manager.
Governance
- To work closely with the Directorate, Patient and Public Involvement panels in relation to clinical and services developments as delegated by the Clinical Director.
Strategy and Business Planning
- To participate in the business planning and objective setting process for the directorate and Trust where appropriate.
Leadership and Team Working
- To work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and Kings Health Partners as required.
