Main duties of the job
Join our established Clinical Immunology - Clinical Immunology team at University Hospital Southampton and play a key role in delivering and developing specialist adult immunology and allergy services across Wessex. As part of our team, you will work collaboratively with colleagues, helping to deliver excellent services and ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
The role includes specialist clinics, diagnosis and ongoing management of patients with immunodeficiency and allergy, supervision of immunoglobulin replacement therapy, inpatient advice, clinical governance, service development, and supporting the education of colleagues and trainees.
We’re looking for an experienced, compassionate Consultant Immunologist with broad expertise in General Immunology and Allergy and experience of independent Consultant-level practice. You’ll bring strong communication and organisational skills, able to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, and a calm, adaptable approach to patient care. Experience in laboratory diagnostics, teaching, service development, quality improvement and clinical governance is highly valued.
You’ll join a friendly, established multidisciplinary team of consultants, specialist nurses, trainees, pharmacy, laboratory and administrative colleagues. Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred care while working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation.
As a Consultant Immunologist, you will provide specialist clinical care through adult immunology and allergy clinics, managing patients with immunodeficiency and allergy and supervising immunoglobulin replacement therapy.
You will support the wider clinical service through referral triage, inpatient advice and guidance, multidisciplinary working, and the development and updating of clinical guidelines and protocols.
The role will also include supporting specialist nursing and trainee teams, contributing to teaching, clinical governance, quality improvement, accreditation, service development and research.
