This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and dynamic department that provides anaesthetic services across a broad range of surgical specialties. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop a specialist interest and contribute to service development, education, quality improvement and research.

Our department continues to evolve and innovate. We have recently opened a dedicated Elective Orthopaedic Hub, expanded our elective capacity and established a robotic surgery programme. We are also actively engaged in planning for the future development of healthcare services through the national New Hospital Programme.

  • The department provides anaesthetic services to: General Surgery Colorectal Surgery Orthopaedics and Trauma Obstetrics Gynaecology Urology ENT Ophthalmology Community Dental Services Emergency Surgery Facilities include: 10 operating theatres Dedicated Day Surgery Unit with 3 theatres Separate maternity theatre and recovery facilities Integrated 12-bedded ICU/HDU Dedicated Elective Orthopaedic Hub with 2 operating theatres, 4 recovery bays and 8 day-care pods Established robotic surgery service Active regional anaesthesia, peri-operative medicine and quality improvement programmes The successful candidate will join a supportive consultant body committed to delivering high-quality patient care, innovation, education and service improvement.
