We are looking to recruit a  Consultant to our Community Paediatric team in Newham for  2025

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic team within a multidisciplinary Community Child Health service in East London:

Consultant Community Paediatrician (up to 10PA)- The post will have a safe guarding focus working closely with the named drs for safeguarding and Children in care to  support all activities necessary to ensure that the organisation meets its responsibilities for looked after children and young people

Main duties of the job

  • i)       Clinical activities: a.     Consultant clinics including Children in Care clinics and related administrative work b.   Triage and supervision as Consultant of the Day c.  clinical discussions or meetings d.  Support and advise colleagues in the clinical assessment and care of children and young people. ii)     Teaching/ Training: a.     To take a lead role for new trainees and doctors (not consultants) joining the department overseeing education supervision and organizing induction. b.     To contribute to departmental teaching c.     To contribute to teaching of medical students d.     Work with specialist and designated looked after children professionals locally to agree and promote training needs and priorities iii)    Management and leadership: a.     Audit, quality improvement and service development b.     Clinical governance c.     Management supervision iv)    Children in Care (Looked after children)  and Safeguarding Role a.     Working closely with Named Drs to support all activities necessary to ensure that the organisation meets its responsibilities for looked after children and young people b.     Advise local police, children’s social care and other statutory and voluntary agencies on health matters with regard to looked after children and safeguarding children. c.     Liaise closely with other specialist services within ELFT . d.     Support and advise the board of the healthcare organisation about safeguarding children and looked after children and young people. e.     Contribute to the planning and strategic organisation of provider services for looked after children and child protection.
