Since December 2024, we have been performing Robotic colorectal cancer resectional services at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital using a state of the art robot, Versius, made by Cambridge Medical Robotics (CMR).
Currently only colorectal teams are performing surgery using this robot. However, our plan is to Introduce Urology by the end of this year and Gynaecology a few months after that.
We expect that the new consultant appointment in colorectal cancer resection surgery will have expertise and interest in Robotic Surgery and will help and facilitate building an even stronger team of Robotic colorectal cancer resectional surgeons at QEH.
