We are seeking three Consultants to join our friendly, forward-thinking and supportive Histopathology Department as we complete our substantive consultant workforce.
RECRUITMENT INCENTIVE £10k plus Relocation
We are particularly keen to attract Consultants with a specialist interest in
- Breast Pathology, including experience of breast screening services
- Skin/Dermatopathology
- Broad general histopathology expertise and a commitment to high-quality diagnostic services

We are the lead laboratory within a developing digital pathology network that includes Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job
We provide a comprehensive histopathology and non-gynaecological cytopathology service, reporting a broad range of surgical pathology specimens and contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings, governance, audit and education.
We welcome special interests that complement and strengthen current services, particularly in:
- Breast pathology
- Skin pathology
- Cancer reporting
- Cytopathology
- Digital pathology innovation

About the department
Our department currently comprises three substantive consultants and is expanding to establish a full complement of six consultant cellular pathologists.
The service benefits from:
- Approximately 15,000-20,000 histopathology specimens annually

Applicants must hold:
- GMC Specialist Registration (or be within six months of obtaining CCT)
- FRCPath or equivalent
- Broad experience in histopathology and diagnostic cytopathology
- We are particularly interested in candidates able to provide leadership and service development in Breast Pathology and Skin Pathology.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Training
Essential
- Applicants that are UK trained must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Applicants that are non-UK trained will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
Desirable
- Management training and/or experience.
Education and Knowledge
Essential
- FRCPath or show evidence of equivalent training and experience.
- Appropriate training in Histopathology, and diagnostic cytology.
- Appropriate experience and skills in all aspects of Cellular Pathology appropriate to a DGH service including surgical histopathology (particularly breast pathology) and diagnostic cytology (non-gynaecological cytology including reporting fine needle aspirates).
- Lead for Breast Pathology and experience in screening programme.
Desirable
- Participation in provision of autopsy for the Coroner and Hospital Service.
Education and Qualifications
Essential
- Full and Specialist registration (and with a current licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview.
