NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post is 40 hours per week over 7 days/on-call commitment.

This is a permanent post.

Applications are invited for this substantive Consultant Cardiologist post which will be based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. This is a permanent position which has arisen due to a resignation for relocation. The successful candidate will join an established consultant cardiologist team.

A cardiologist with an interest in electrophysiology would be preferred. Applicants must have MRCP, full GMC registration and a licence to practise. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT in Cardiology or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview. Dual accreditation in GIM would be preferred. NonUK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training. The successful applicant will contribute to the in-patient cardiology rota at QEUH (CCU and general ward roles, weekend rota and out-of-hours on-call).

The out-of-hours and weekend on-call commitment will be 1 in 11, covering the QEUH. The week day commitment to CCU will be 1 in ~18 and for the Cardiology wards 1 in ~12. The successful candidate will contribute a general out-patient clinic at the New Victoria Hospital and contribute to the vetting of GP referrals.

This job plan below is illustrative only and will be agreed between the successful applicant, the Clinical Lead and Clinical Director for Medicine.

Essential

  • Minimum of 8/9 years of post-qualification clinical experience
  • Experience in general Cardiology, both in-patient and out-patient care

Desirable

  • Training in electrophysiology and cardiac devices
  • Experience in Acute Medicine

Registration

Essential

  • Full registration with GMC
  • A licence to practise
  • CCT in Cardiology, or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR), or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview

Desirable
