
Yorkshire Smokefree Barnsley has an exciting opportunity for a 37.5 hour Band 3 role, offered on a fixed term basis until 01.02.2028. The post will focus on smoking and social housing, working across both Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council (BMBC) and the core Yorkshire Smokefree Barnsley (YSFB) service. This role represents a key opportunity to strengthen our public health offer and reduce smoking prevalence within priority communities.
This position is funded through the government grant provided to local authorities to support current smokers to quit.
We are seeking applicants who have an understanding of supporting individuals through behaviour change techniques and the use of pharmacotherapy across a range of intervention settings. Experience of delivering onetoone treatment interventions is desirable. We also welcome applications from individuals without the relevant qualifications who are willing to complete the required training.

The successful candidate will work across Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council (BMBC) social housing settings for two days per week and within the wider YSFB service for three days per week, delivering tailored stop smoking support. This is a key opportunity to make a meaningful impact in priority communities, helping individuals access personalised support and empowering them to lead healthier, smoke-free lives.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for empowering people to make positive lifestyle changes. You should be confident working independently, managing your own workload and clinics, while also contributing positively to a supportive and forward-thinking team. In this role, you will use your knowledge and interpersonal skills to guide smokers through their quit journey and provide ongoing support to help them stay smoke-free.
