Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Staff Nurse within our District Nursing Team based at Biggart Hospital Prestwick.

Hours:

This post is 37 hours over 5 days with a weekend commitment offered on a permanent basis

Job share will be considered for this post.

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

UK Driving Licence:

A UK driving licence is essential for this role.

What you will do:

Applications are sought from registered nurses who are confident in their ability to work autonomously and as part of the wider primary care team. Excellent communication and observational skills are essential. Previous community nursing experience would be advantageous; however, registered nurses wishing to develop their skills in community nursing would be considered.

The Community Nursing Team in Prestwick are responsible for assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of care to individuals and families, in the area. The post holder will primarily be based in Prestwick.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required for this post:

We are seeking a highly motivated Registered Nurse with a passion for clinical care, and a strong team-work ethic.

Working independently, the successful candidate will preferably have up to date clinical skills although training will be provided. These skills include all forms of catheterisation, palliative care, wound care and promotion of continence. An interest in mentoring and teaching pre-reg students is essential.
