About the Team The SNSN service is friendly, supportive, and child‑centred, working with pupils in special schools across Bradford, Keighley, and Brooklands School in Craven. We are a developing team committed to providing high‑quality, holistic care within educational settings.
This is a mobile role with flexible working across home, office, and school sites.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- Complete initial health assessments and contribute to individual care plans
- Provide training to school staff and deliver health promotion activities
- Work collaboratively within multi‑disciplinary teams
- Participate in safeguarding processes and support care coordination
- Assist with the delivery of immunisation programmes in special schools
- Contribute to service development and engage with children and families through social media and digital platforms
As a Staff Nurse within the School Nursing Special Needs Team, you will provide a safe, effective service for school‑aged children in special schools and community settings across Bradford, Airedale, and Craven. The role focuses on promoting the physical, social, and emotional wellbeing of children with complex health and behavioural needs aged 4–19.
Your responsibilities will include completing initial health assessments prior to school entry, delivering training to school staff, writing and updating care plans, and liaising with families and other professionals. You will ensure that all care delivered is clinically effective, of a high standard, and supports each child’s ability to access education safely. The role also includes participation in immunisation campaigns and wider health promotion initiatives.
