Job overview

The Community Roots offers collaborative and inclusive learning programmes promoting awareness of mental health and recovery, to enable learners to manage their own mental health challenges more effectively. The ethos of the Community Roots is based around the core principles of hope, control and opportunity, and the value of lived experience. The service will be delivered across the LSCFT footprint in a range of venues and digitally via MS Teams.

The post holder will need to demonstrate a wide knowledge of coproduction, lived experience expertise and social pedagogy in order to achieve the delivery of complex, wide ranging programmes of work that contribute to the service and Trust priorities.

Core development work may include mapping of areas, build relationships and offer signposting clinics alongside the workshops and groups.  This work supports communities and challenges stigma whilst developing resilient and informed communities.

This role is significant in helping people to make connections in their communities, to find opportunities for education, empowerment and resilience.

To work as part of the Community Roots team to co-design and co-deliver classes to  students, both face to face and digitally.

The post holder will be expected to demonstrate initiative in developing and supporting administration throughout the Community Roots team, always acting in a professional manner.

You will be customer focussed with a passion for engaging with the community and helping people access a wide range of health and wellbeing opportunities.

This role is pivotal in promoting recovery, resilience, and reducing stigma through workshops, signposting clinics, and collaborative learning.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of signs and symptoms of a range of mental disorders and its affects on individuals’ and societies response
  • Awareness of evidence based practise
  • Ability to work autonomously and set own and others’ priorities

Experience

  • Experience of lone working within a community setting
  • Demonstrate planning skills
  • The ability to work as part of a team.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Certificate in Community Mental Health at NVQ Level 4 or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Substantial demonstrable experience of delivering and coordinating learning programmes
  • Evidence of on-going personal Development
