Main duties of the job
As a Community Nursery Nurse
You will:
- Work as part of a team delivering care to babies, children their families, ensuring that their health and developmental needs are prioritised.
- Offer evidenced based professional advice, guidance and support to parents and families relating to and prevention and maintenance of health and development.
- Make contact with and support all parents to make informed choices regarding feeding and implement plans to enable parents to initiate and establish feeding their baby regardless of their chosen feeding method.
- Refer promptly and accurately any problems identified during an assessment or home visit to the health visitor and any other agency as appropriate.
- Offer advice and support to groups/individuals on specific aspects of childcare. e.g. infant feeding, oral health, weaning, sleep, behaviour management, speech and language, potty/toilet training, nursery/school readiness.
- Contribute to the organisation and running of Well Baby Clinics across Sandwell.
- Liaise with Best Start Family Hubs, nursery providers, public health, libraries, charities, in order to support the needs of parents, children and families.
- Undertake home visits in line with the Lone Working Policy.
- Work closely with the health visitors and report any concerns following contact with families in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the Safeguarding procedures and utilise procedures effectively.
