This is a great opportunity for a Dietitian to join a friendly and well developed Community Dietetic Team to offer Dietetic treatment to people living in Nottinghamshire.

The post holder will work clinically across the service that covers Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood. Our team of experienced Dietitians, Assistant Practitioner, Diabetes Educators and Clerical Staff all work together to deliver a wide range of Dietetic Services to adults, children and young people in the community.

You will join a team committed to professional and service development ensuring that we deliver evidence-based patient-centred care to improve patient outcomes and experience.

We have a supportive team approach, ensuring the wellbeing of all our staff. We provide regular clinical and non-clinical supervision and within the Trust we have a robust preceptorship programme for newly qualified staff.

Main duties of the job

Provide specialist dietetic assessment and interventions to adults within a variety of Community settings Provide consultation to other community healthcare colleagues Contribute to student training Delivery of Staff training and patient group education sessions Employ excellent communication skills including written work such as record keeping and effective team working Use own initiative and work autonomously Adopt good organisational and time management skills A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be responsible for dietetic assessment, treatment planning and goal orientated interventions to adults referred to the service within a variety of Community settings such as clinics, group sessions, care homes and domiciliary visits. This may also be delivered via phone and video appointments and virtual groups. Participate in multi-professional working for the purpose of dietetic care You will hold an individual caseload You will maintain record keeping in line with professional and trust guidance You will be responsible for your own clinical professional development and HCPC registration You will participate in mandatory training as required by the Trust You will actively participate in a regular clinical and managerial supervision and the preceptorship programme to support your ongoing professional development You will act as a resource on nutritional care to other colleagues in the community multidisciplinary team You will have the opportunity to contribute to audits and quality improvement projects within the team You will provide clinical teaching, supervision, and appraisal for pre-registration Dietetic students undertaking clinical placements. You will initiate and deliver appropriate in-service training programmes for professional colleagues, students and support staff

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

Skills

Essential

  • Able to communicate with clients using dietary counselling, motivational and negotiation skills
  • IT skills, to support clinical practice ( e.g. patient information systems, e-mail, web browsing, literature search, dietary analysis word processing, and presentation packages
  • Able to work independently and in a team, recognising own and others limitations, and seeks advice from senior colleagues when required
  • Able to demonstrate good written and oral communication skills with people from a variety of backgrounds, without risk of misunderstanding
  • Able to analyse information and to make judgements on dietetic issues
  • Willing to continue to develop their practice as a Dietitian, to remain competent in clinical practice.
  • Able to plan and prioritise own caseload using time management skills

  • Completed clinical placement

Knowledge

Essential

  • Up to date dietetic professional knowledge acquired through degree
  • Complies with professional standards and code of conduct of BDA and HCPC.
  • Interest in training dietetic students.

  • Developed Critical appraisal and clinical reasoning skills

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in an MDT and ability to discuss management plans and their implications with the MDT
  • Experience in a community setting during B or C placement / post registration

Desirable

  • Able to reflect on own work
  • Experience of audit or clinical effectiveness.
  • Experience of teaching groups
  • Experience of teaching colleagues or other professionals

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent post grad qualification leading to registration with the Health Care Professions Council(HCPC) as a Dietitian
  • HCPC registration as a Dietitian.

Desirable

  • Teaching qualification or Clinical Educators course
  • Membership of British Dietetic Association (BDA)
  • Training or experience in the area of Community Dietetics
  • Presentation skills training.
