As a Commercial Manager with NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT), you'll help ensure we make the best use of public money to support services that save and improve lives. Working across a diverse portfolio of contracts, you'll partner with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver value, manage risk and support high-quality procurement decisions. You'll lead commercial activity throughout the contract lifecycle, from sourcing and tendering through to supplier management and performance review. This is a national role with the opportunity to work for a national organisation and be based at one of the following locations: Barnsley, Basildon, Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Liverpool, Southampton, or Oxford. Your base location will be mutually agreed with the hiring manager following the final interview outcome, and we will aim to appoint you to the nearest available base where possible.
Main duties of the job
- You will work with the Senior Commercial Lead and Senior Commercial Manager to source, procure, negotiate and manage a range of business-critical commercial contracts and framework agreements for the provision of goods and services across NHSBT.
- Manage commercial projects that deliver value for money and support services that make a difference to patients and the public.
- Build trusted relationships with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders to achieve successful commercial outcomes.
- Develop sourcing and procurement strategies that balance quality, compliance, risk and cost-effectiveness.
- Negotiate contracts and commercial agreements that protect NHSBTs interests and create long-term value.
- Guide customers through procurement processes, providing clear and practical commercial advice.
- Monitor supplier performance and contract delivery to support continuous improvement and reliable service provision.
- Analyse commercial data and market information to support informed decision-making and future planning.
- Promote best practice by ensuring compliance with public procurement regulations, policies and governance requirements.
- Support learning and capability across NHSBT by delivering training, sharing expertise and encouraging effective commercial practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiencies and deliver measurable savings across procurement activities.
