The Operational Manager (Quality, Safety & Workforce Development Lead) will ensure safe, efficient day-to-day service delivery across the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team. As one of two Band 7 Operational Managers, the post holder will share responsibility for high-quality delivery, focusing on consistent clinical standards, strong governance & quality assurance, & a supported, skilled & resilient workforce.

You will be an experienced operational leader with a strong understanding of clinical governance, quality improvement, & workforce development. You will demonstrate excellent leadership, communication, & organisational skills, with a commitment to supporting staff & maintaining high standards of care.

Main duties of the job

  • To ensure that the values and principles of the organisation are translated into the philosophy and operational policy/service specifications for the services and that these are evident in everyday practice and reviewed on a regular basis, ensuring that the services are delivered and developed in line with relevant Trust policies, procedures and values.
  • To establish, develop and review policies, practices and procedures which meet legislative, Trust and directorate requirements.
  • To contribute to strategy and clinical governance plans for the service area and directorate. To take a lead in implementing specific projects in relation to this. Develop and maintain links and support networks with other teams within the service area, ensuring consistency.
  • To facilitate an environment where the physical, emotional, health, social, educational, cultural and spiritual needs of service users can be met. With a specific focus of safe, caring, responsive, effective and well led service delivery.
  • To be responsible overseeing the maintenance of the building and grounds, and ensure safe systems of work are adhered to, so that the environment is safe, pleasant, fit for purpose. This includes responsibility for implementing and developing health and safety protocols and individual risk assessments with the staff team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder is responsible for ensuring that:

  • There is a positive practitioner patient relationship where there is a connection with service users and their carers and decisions are made jointly about their care wherever possible, including being treated with dignity and compassion.
  • The care that is delivered is sensitive to age, culture, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability and spirituality.
  • There is active engagement with service users/carers to prevent distress and anxiety and promote recovery.
  • Staff demonstrate a competent level of knowledge in physical and mental health conditions, diagnosis, treatment and care in relation to their role/responsibilities, demonstrating the ability to carry out comprehensive and specialist mental health assessment.
  • Consent is obtained for any intervention and interactions. In situations where an intervention is required without consent being given, this is done within the relevant legal framework with respect for the service users, protecting their dignity.
  • All tasks are performed with courtesy, respect and kindness.
  • Ensure medication is administered by an appropriate registered practitioner safely with the knowledge of contraindications and side effects, relaying accurate information to service users in a format they are able to understand.
  • The clinical vision for the service is clearly identified and all staff are able to describe how they contribute to meeting the vision.
