Psychiatric Decisions Unit and Place of Safety is based in the Oleaster building. The service provide access to thorough and timely assessments of young peoples needs by specialist camhs practitioners.
The service sits within the urgent care pathway, which compromises of Home treatment and the crisis team, and Psychiatric Liaision (based at Birmingham Children's hospital) and
The right candidate will have a primary role in ensuring the health and wellbeing of the young person whilst in the care of the place of safety, and to be instrumental in managing risk and supporting ongoing assessment of mental health needs. You will be responsible for supporting the Nursing staff to maintain safety of the young person and staff, whilst ensuring that all care offered is individualised, diverse and patient centered.
There may be the requirement for cross cover to be provided to the other parts of the urgent care pathway including inpatient wards. A full UK driving license and access to a car for business purposes, is essential to this role. Business insurance will be required for this post.
Support the Nursing team to complete a thorough assessment of mental health needs and assessment of risk.
Carry out defined risk management plans and support the young person to maintain their safety.
Support the clinical team to complete all relevant legal paperwork and record keeping.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure that the Place of Safety Environment is kept to high standards of infection control principles.
Raise safeguarding concerns as necessary and link with external stakeholders where necessary.
Provide support to Students with the team.
Support where needed to the other parts of the urgent care pathway.
Contribute to Multidisciplinary team meetings
