Job overview

To act in a supportive role to the nursing team to assist in the delivery of quality care to the patient in the renal  haemodialysis care setting.

To maintain good relationships with patients, colleagues and visitors.

To provide the highest standard of nursing care to all patients undergoing  haemodialysis and thus contribute to the overall efficiency and development of the renal service.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Support Worker level 2 you will provide vital assistance to patients and support them with their physical and emotional care needs.

You will also be responsible for assisting healthcare professionals in the diagnosis, treatment, and care of patients.

  • Experience of working in a caring environment or Experience as a carer

Qualifications

Essential

  • Commitment to, and successful completion of, the STH 5-day Healthcare Support Worker programme on commencing employment [undertaken on a full-time basis after appointment, upon induction] OR Previous completion of the programme within the 12 months prior to employment.
  • GCSE English and Maths at grade D or above (or relevant equivalent qualification or level of ability which would include Functional Skills Level 1)
  • Care Certificate from an approved awarder, or commitment to successful completion the Care Certificate within 12 weeks from start of employment

Desirable

  • Level 2 Apprenticeship (or equivalent) in Health Care / health related subject or equivalent experience

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Must be willing to undertake training as required which is specific to the post as identified through service delivery
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both patients and colleagues, including the ability to discuss sensitive issues, demonstrating tact and empathy
  • Demonstrates insight / understanding into the role applied for in delivering care to meet patient needs
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality and demonstrates a knowledge of how it can be maintained
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions in order to complete assigned tasks.

Desirable

  • IT literate and comfortable / confident with the use of computer systems
