NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest health organisation in Scotland, delivering acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of 1.2 million across six local authority areas. The Board is initiating a period of transformational change with the development of innovative care models and a commitment to providing safe, effective, person-centred care, leveraging advances in technology and the digital era.
The Acute Sector offers an extensive range of hospital services to residents of Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Notably, the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital will be designated as a major trauma centre from 2021. A vacancy has arisen within the Regional Services Directorate during this period of growth for both regional and national services, presenting opportunities for service development and redesign to meet rising demand and increasing treatment complexity. The Clinical Service Manager will serve a pivotal role in leading change in collaboration with clinical teams.
This management position includes oversight of the West of Scotland Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit and The Scottish National Burns Centre at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, as well as responsibility for pre-assessment outpatient services in both Plastic Surgery and The Scottish National Burns Service. The post holder will report to the General Manager for Plastic Surgery, Scottish National Burns Centre, Renal Services, and Integrative Care, and will be responsible for developing and implementing services within key acute areas, maintaining an emphasis on delivering high-quality, safe, and efficient patient-centred care that meets both local and national objectives.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong influencing and leadership skills, alongside substantial experience in operational management within healthcare or similarly complex environments. The ability to inspire confidence and respect, effectively lead in politically sensitive and challenging contexts, and contribute to a culture focused on patient care, initiative, accountability, and transparent communication are essential for success in this role.
