
The role involves working with service users of Older People's Mental Health (OPMH) community mental health team (CMHT) in Basingstoke, providing psychological assessments and therapy. This will include working with functional/mental health and organic presentations including neuropsychological assessments. This includes work with wider team colleagues, carers and families and collaboration with appropriate community services and voluntary sector organisations.
It will require you to work as an autonomous, independent practitioner responsible for own work and intervention and for the interpretation of agreed guidelines and policies in providing a highly specialist Psychological Therapies Service. You will also undertake complex assessments and consultancy, providing expert advice to Psychological Therapies Services colleagues and the wider clinical multi-professional team. You will provide specialist treatment for complex cases and plan and prioritise own clinical workload. There will be opportunities to propose and influence change to policy or service development within the area psychological service and CMHT. You will provide specialist supervision for trainee psychologists and CAPs and psychological guidance and supervision for multi-professional clinical colleagues. We support undertaking research and development and develop and encourage a research culture within the wider clinical team, including utilising research skills for audit, policy and service development and research.
*To provide comprehensive highly specialist psychological assessments, formulations and treatments of clients based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of highly complex, contentious and/or sensitive data from a variety of sources including neuropsychological tests, psychometric tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care and specific to their care settings.
* To administer a wide range of highly complex neuropsychological tests that require the manipulation of materials at a high level of speed and accuracy.
*To be responsible for implementing a range of highly specialist evidence based psychological interventions for individual clients, carers, families and groups within and across teams, individually and in synthesis and includes skills for adapting therapies for patients with cognitive impairment.
*To work as an autonomous professional and provide highly specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients' formulation, diagnosis and treatment care plans and undertake risk assessment and risk management for clients.
*Receive regular supervision in accordance with good practice guidelines, maintain own CPD and provide supervision to junior staff.
*To represent Psychological Services at multidisciplinary meetings as required, and provide highly specialist advice.
