Job overview

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist/ Cognitive Behaviour Therapist. The Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma (CADAT) is an outpatient psychological therapies clinic which specialises in assessing and treating people with anxiety disorders using CBT. We take great pride in our work and treat local and national patients across a range of severities, to a very high standard.

We are looking for someone with an interest and experience in treating anxiety using CBT. Newly qualified clinicians will be considered and are encouraged to apply. Prospective candidates should be able to demonstrate an excellent academic track record, specific postgraduate training and experience in CBT, and a very good working knowledge of anxiety disorders and how to treat them. We are looking for colleagues who understand the importance of evidence-based treatments, supervision, research, training and dissemination. We are seeking eager, creative and excellent clinicians. Job share, secondments, and part-time working can be considered.

Main duties of the job

To provide, develop and ensure the systematic provision of a highly specialist psychology service to clients with anxiety disorders including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes. To provide clinical supervision, consultation and training as required. To contribute to service evaluation, research and policy development. To contribute to the clinic’s culture of continual improvement, and develop and foster new areas of specialism within the clinic.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To provide expertise in a highly specialist clinical area which will contribute to CBT for anxiety and related disorders across primary, secondary and tertiary care.
  • To provide highly specialist assessment and clinical formulation to clients with complex mental health needs, in particular those with anxiety and related disorders.
  • To act as care co-ordinator taking responsibility for providing CBT for clients with anxiety and related disorders
  • To contribute to the development of the knowledge and skills base within CADAT by maintaining an active awareness of current developments in CBT and anxiety, and by implementing knowledge gained in practice.
  • To provide professional and clinical supervision to assistant psychologist for all aspects of their work.
  • To contribute to the consultation and engagement of service users in planning and developing services.
  • To provide expertise in a specialist research area which will contribute to CBT for anxiety and related disorders.
  • To contribute to the development of services through initiating, undertaking and supervising service evaluation and audit.
  • To ensure that all services provided are acceptable and accessible to the diverse communities which make up CADAT’s client group.

To ensure that systems are in place and working effectively for service delivery, as well as the clinical and professional supervision and support of assistant psychologist within the service area as appropriate.
