Our specialist Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Service has been establish for over 10 years. Recognising the significant benefits to people who access DBT, we are significantly increasing the team’s resources, so that it can have a greater impact across the Surrey and North-East Hampshire area.

Due to expansion and service growth, we are expanding our team and are looking for 3 x Band 7 Psychologists or DBT Therapist  to cover

West Surrey  East Surrey  Trust wide

Main duties of the job

  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate the psychological needs of people using our services.
  • To mentor, supervise and teach qualified and unqualified staff including students
  • Promote a psychological perspective both within teams and sharing with other colleagues
  • Work collaboratively with team managers/ Clinical leads in the development and delivering of effective services
  • Supporting specific service development projects
  • The postholder will be expected to work flexibly within the service.

Person specification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with people from across the life span with a range of mental health issues and cognitive profiles.
  • Experience across a range of psychological models including systemic, behavioural and individual therapeutic
  • Candidates should demonstrate experience of working with individuals with complex emotional needs
  • Experience of supervising assistant and trainee clinical psychologists (Psychologists)
  • Demonstrable post registration/clinical experience and competency relevant to this care group.
  • Ability to manage difficult situations with service users that have complex presentations and/or behaviours that challenge, and to manage a demanding and complex caseload
  • Demonstrable ability to remain calm and compassionate when faced with highly distressing situations.
  • Knowledge and Experience of delivering DBT (DBT Therapist)
  • It is essential to have a driving license and access to a vehicle for all community-based post where travel across sites and/or client visits are a significant part of the role

Registration

Essential

  • DBT Therapist - PG Dip in DBT and core professional training (e.g. Nursing, Social work, OT), registered with appropriate professional registration body

Qualifications

Essential

  • Psychologist - Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology
