Job summary

We are looking for a Clinical Pharmacist to join the pharmacy team at Priory Medical Group.

Essential hours are a minimum of 24 hours covering Monday to Wednesday, there may also be the opportunity to work up to FTE which can be discussed at interview.

You'll work alongside our experienced pharmacy and clinical teams to deliver exceptional patient care.

You will be a GPhC registered pharmacist.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be responsible for managing high volumes of acute or repeat prescription requests, and medication reviews, ensuring prescribing is safe, clinically appropriate, and aligned with current national and local guidance. They will play a central role in delivering structured medication reviews (SMRs) and providing holistic care for patients with long-term conditionsparticularly those with complex needs such as chronic pain, hypertension, and diabetes. Care will be delivered through clinics, patient consultations, and thorough review of clinical notes and prescribing records, with clear reference to the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), NICE guidelines, and local prescribing policies.

In addition to patient-facing work, the Clinical Pharmacist will supervise and provide clinical support to pharmacy technicians and contribute to the training of trainee pharmacy technicians and trainee pharmacists. They will also assist with the processing and management of shared care agreements, ensuring safety and continuity across services.

Close collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) is integral to the role. The post-holder will be expected to contribute their pharmaceutical expertise to case discussions, clinical audits, and service improvement initiatives. This role demands strong clinical judgement, excellent time management, and the ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment while maintaining a high standard of care.

About us

We are a friendly, well organised and social surgery with an increasing patient list of 15,550 patients, operating from three sites; North Shields, Hadrian Park and Tynemouth.

We are a teaching practice with GP Registrars, F2 Doctors, Physician Associate, pharmacy and medical students on placement.

Our clinical team comprises; 6 GP Partners, Salaried GPs, Practice Nurses, HCAs, Physician Associate, Advanced Paramedic Practioner, 3 Pharmacists and 3 Pharmacy Technicians.

The practice hosts First Contact Physio clinics and has an in-house Mental Health Nurse.
