Job overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Intravenous Access Specialist Nurse to join the Intravenous Access Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, evidence-based service to staff and patients across the division and within community settings, in relation to intravenous access and associated education.
The role will focus on clinical expertise, with a strong emphasis on initiating, performing, and maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence. The post holder will ensure that best practice is consistently applied and effectively disseminated throughout all clinical areas.
This position requires a senior, qualified nurse with extensive experience in intravenous access and a strong background in education and professional development. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and possess highly developed interpersonal and communication skills. They will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, contributing to service development and the advancement of knowledge within the organisation.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
To work as an autonomous expert practitioner.
To offer advice, support and education to clinical teams across the cancer centre and Local health Boards where appropriate.
To develop patient pathways and be responsible for developing the nursing service.
To utilise advanced nursing skills and extensive knowledge base to undertake specialist assessments, critically analysing complex information to make informed decisions regarding appropriate treatment/intervention to ensure the delivery of highly specialist care.
To have a positive influential role and impact on care across the clinical area.

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
