Job overview

In order to support the growing demand for our oncology services and expansion within our clinical nurse specialist (CNS) team we currently have a band 7 vacancy.

The cancer CNS role is a key worker role, and the successful individual would ideally be a registered nurse with a minimum of 3 years’ experience within the oncology specialty or a cancer site area.

We are seeking a motivated, proactive nurse with a vision and maturity to support this client group at their most vulnerable with the living with and beyond cancer programme. With the appropriate training you will be expected to support experienced clinicians making multi professional decisions and undertake independent nurse led clinics.

The role will support the living with and beyond cancer agenda and the survivorship programme established within the long-term plan. The post is pivotal in supporting the existing team and allied health professionals within the group whilst contributing to a multi professional vision.

You must be an RN with current NMC registration and be SACT competent. The Health Assessment Module would be advantageous or a willingness to undertake the module within 12 months of being in post.

Main duties of the job

The cancer CNS role is a key worker role. You will work with the existing multi professional team to offer support, care and treatment to those patients diagnosed with cancer.

To be professionally accountable for the delivery of standards of professional practice and behaviours as set by the Nursing & Midwifery Council.

To deliver compassionate person-centred care, and treat patients, service users, their families and their carers with consideration, dignity and the respect you would want for yourself or your family.

To promote public health and well-being.
