Job summary

We are looking for a passionate individual to join the existing nursing team in Immunology and Allergy department within the LTHT at St James' Hospital. The Immunology and Allergy team in Leeds is known as European centre for excellence in rare diseases. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join and work alongside with the Multidisciplinary team in Immunology and Allergy department which consists of Day unit and outpatient clinics. The role will allow the successful individuals to gain experience in the assessment, care and management of patients with wide range of Immunology and Allergy conditions, as well as learning how to care and manage patients undergoing different diagnostic tests, therapeutic procedures including (SPT) Skin Prick Test for drug and Non Drugs, (IDT) Intradermal test, challenge test, administration of specialist oral drugs, specialist injection treatment via subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous infusions, Specialist clinic.

Main duties of the job

The Jobholder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload. The jobholder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care. The jobholder will provide specialist nursing care, treatment and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the speciality service. The jobholder will ensure cost effective use of resources. The job holder will support the development of interdisciplinary and whole service working. As a role model they will promote the sharing of good practice and delivery of high quality, effective and efficient care. The job holder will provide training and education to staff groups, patients and families/carers.
